All I want is a simple program to create a track in a gpx file, a route that can't be changed by subsequent attempts at autorouting. It seems silly to buy an old copy of ST 2013, but that may be what I do. Any 3rd party app I try fails, the files are somehow corrupted. est file from my 2005 MS Streets and Trips to. Took me awhile to figure that out, I don't know what Furkot considers 'highways' but it was giving me fits and tying my route in knots! Dragging the track around caused Furkot to try to stay away from certain roads at all cost. One thing I quickly discovered is to not use 'avoid highways' even though I want to avoid highways (esp interstates). But has no trouble suggesting cities half way around the globe? Are you kidding me? And if I type a search for a city, Furkot can't find it because the STATE is 'case sensitive' or it's not within the zoom extents of the map. And trying to change the order is fiddly at best. Not that I can see must create each waypoint individually. Then maybe click and drag them to change the order? Nope. Is there a way to create a quick list of cities to include in the route? Type, enter, type enter. Double clicking the map zooms in but also tries to create a waypoint every time. Is there a 'zoom window' type of magnification? You know, the old click and drag zoom window box deal? Clicking the + and - buttons over and over zooming in and out again is a bit tedious when working on a route covering a large geographic area. It's got the power to do it for sure.īut yes, I can count backwards to figure it out. If there was no start date it seems like it could figure it out. I guess it doesn't know what to do, because it requires a start date and then has a conflict. It just buries the extra time in the middle of nowhere. Check its settings above and see why it has been added here." So, it does not subtract time from previous nights, or adjust the schedule. It just throws in a random stop along the previous day's route and gives a message "this stop is an automatically scheduled placeholder, not a real place. So this works fine.īut if I change the arrival time at a waypoint, Furkot fails. I can set the depart date of each waypoint, which will add subsequent nights to the trip (and of course calculates the number of nights it wants me to book hotel rooms). Furkot calculates the number of nights based on this and of course I could count backwards to determine the Trip Start date. Sometimes we may have a date and duration that we want to be there, sometimes not.įurkot does not seem to allow me to set the number of miles traveled per day but, (as you say) it does allow me to change the length of a travel day, and I can adjust to get the number of miles I want to travel per day. Of course, we all have a destination in mind. I am more concerned about the sites and sights along the way, and I know approximately how many miles a day I can travel comfortably and still be able to see local attractions. If I don't put one in it enters today's date. Thanks for responding and for your support!įurkot seems to require a start date.
